Guess the complication of collating in the early starters delayed the publication of the Tour of Pendle results, but they are now available on the Clayton website. James Logue, formerly of Horwich, and now with Calder VFR, won in 2:27 and Lynne Clough of Chorley H was first lady in 3:07.
Kieran Carr, the organiser, and first V65 in 3:20, declared the run of the day being that of Malcom Coles of Valley Striders, first V70 in 3:38!
All our squad were behind that man, EYJ in an excellent 4:01, TIM/NR 4:19, yours truly 4:59 and YJ 5:09.
It had been an interesting race, with a disapearing marshall, fairly grim weather, and the added excitement of seeing the later runners stream past in ever increasing numbers, especially between checkpoints 3 and 4. It'll be interesting to see whether Kieran repeats the arrangment next year, and whether any other race organisers adopt this approach.
My own race involved passing and being passed by Bowland (Oil Rig) Wayne several times, before being outsprinted and finishing just three seconds behind him.
