Couple of pics from Saturday
Bit of route choice early doors. The man on left was the 'injured YJ', so we allowed him a good 5 seconds or so head start setting off from the New DG. Group on right sticking rigidly to the path were Matt, Iceman, TYC and Steve (note to EtU - he needs a moniker!)
Scafell Pike in the middle. The 'softies' decscent for OCT is down Little Narrowcove, (a tributary to the River Esk) which in the picture for those unfamiliar starts at the dip to the right of Sacfell Pike and drops on a slight diagonal from right to left. The 'nutters' follow a route which if you were to plot it put a pen on the summit and draw a line down the picture parallel to Little Narrowcove, (give or take a few wiggly bits), should give you some idea.
The ridge sloping down from right to left from Scafell to Slight Side. You run down this in the Great Lakes Race, which is part of the championship series this year. Packs a lot in for 13m - Bowfell, Esk Pike, Great End, Scafell Pike, Scafell (+ Slight Side) and Pike 'O' Blisco
We decided that the Iceman must have found an alternative way down. Looking across from Wet Side Edge to Wetherlam. Amazing what you can get in a 10L rucksack if you fold it right!
Grand day out, 25k and just over 1500m for me. Thank you to everyone for the comments about the cakes, looks like I can add the carrot one to the repertoire.
