Using the pen and paper method Styhead to Great Gable is 1250m along and 400m up (approx) so if you were to draw this using the 1:25000 scale you'd get a triangle with an 'x' axis of 5cm and a 'y' axis of 1.6cm. It doesn't look much on the paper. The path - 'slopey bit' is 18 degrees measured on my protractor. I can't remember the proper algebra equation, I only did a year of 'A' level Maths, and I only did that so that I didn't have to do extra Maths lessons in my lunch hour for those doing 'A' Level Physics
