Several weeks ago someone, I think it was YJ, reported that he had been told of a plan to establish a bridle path around the West Pennine moors. This link should take you to a comprehensive strategy paper where you can read all about it.

I've not read it all yet, but it seems that the perimeter path is only one aspect of the plan; there is also to be ~ wait for it ~ an upland challenge route!
Grateful for any titbits that a keen reader can extract from the paper's 23 pages.
