The squad managed to field four racers in four races this weekend, this the first report and covers Black Combe.
TYC and I travelled up to Silecroft for this A Medium fell race. Conditions were magnificent as we left Grimeford Lane, but deteriorated slightly as we travelled north. Soon after arrival we met up with TF and chatted to a few others, including six times Pike Race winner Paul Dugdale.
TF and TYC swapped places a few times during the race, with TF showing her superior climbing ability and TYC drawing her back on the downhills and levels. At the finish it was TF first over the line in 1:54:38 (124th), TYC 1:54:51 (127th). Much further back was yours truly (in borrowed 'hat') in 2:19:44 (149th) - 160 finished.
Ricky Lightfoot was first in 1:08:26 and Borrowdale took the team prize with four V40's (Bardsley, Davies, Gavin Bland and Booth) in consecutive places 4th - 7th!
TF was pleased to show a significant relative improvement on her High Cup Nick performance, TYC was his usual cheery self and I was pleased to be a little further from the back than of late and very pleased with my first outing in the Orocs, although my feet were somewhat sore by the finish.
This is a fine, hard, early season work-out, not to be missed.
Perhaps TF and TYC can cover their Sunday races, and, as instructed by SN, I will cover mine (and hers) very shortly.
