Two full timers and two part timers toed the line for this oft frequented race. The course is mostly rural, and on this occasion made even more interesting by the addition of copious quantities of water, which the fire brigade had not managed to remove entirely.
By the half way point we had settled into our ultimate respective finishing positions:- YJ, Rachel M, Matt, then you-know-who.
The race was won by Rob Affleck of Preston in 33:52 with Hannah Oldroyd of UK Netrunners first lady, 18th overall in 38:05.
YJ, as he is wont to do, picked up a bottle of wine as first V75 (and probably first V70) in a time of 49:13, with my girl not far behind in 49:47, both in the first half of the field. Matt finished in 62:00 whilst I was some way behind him, thankfully omitted from the results.
The only point of interest for me was my claim to a slightly unusual injury, in that I scratched my nose crawling through a hedge (?) and caused some concern with my bloodied appearance as I crossed the line.

Simultaneous worst and best parkrun performance
I ran my first parkrun in God's own county (at Northallerton) yesterday and was rewarded with both my worst and best parkrun performances. My time of 26:04 was easily my worst of the 14 I have run. However, I achieved my best finishing position of 12th (and first V60) - okay there were only 62 runners whereas the others had 200+ participants. No-one did sub 20 and had I run the time I did in October, I would have been third! I am sure I would have been a more than a minute quicker had I run in mudclaws such was the surface, but I'd only packed trail and road shoes when setting off to my daughter's new abode on Thursday.
